A short one that I liked was the one at legitwake.com. Easy to read and the three things to consider to choose it make sense. You might want to take a look at it!

Skateboarding was the first board sport I tried to undertake, Wakeskating was the fourth. By the time I got to the Wakeskate, I really felt like I was a decent boarder, and could take those skills to all board types. Man was I wrong….The whole concept of being pulled by something was foreign to me, and I quickly learned that skateboarding is your “best friend and Worst enemy” on the wakeskate. My experience on the skateboard only helped me out by knowing the basic motions of the tricks I already knew on a skateboard. The motions, while similar, all have a different center of gravity due to the fact that you are being (most of the time by things 20x heavier than the human body).

If you take the time to get the feel of your edges, and get comfortable on the water, than the skateboard tricks can be more useful. This is due to the fact that you will then understand what makes the skateboard and wakeskate ride different, and thus, be able to think through the skateboard tricks you know and understand what you have to change about the skateboard trick motion to take it to the water.

Although learning new tricks isn’t usually easy, if you have a good comfort level with board control, and an understanding of this new feeling of being pulled; taking tricks from the skateboard to the water will be that much easier.

Keep riding everyone!!!!

As with any sport, it is easy to become comfortable doing the same old tricks on a wakeboard or wakeskate (Plateauing). This is especially true after a period of learning a lot of new tricks, and even worse when you have no other riders pushing you to do new tricks. WE MUST RESIST!!! We must continue to get better and to try new things….. that’s what keeps the sport fresh, that is what keeps me riding on a near daily basis at least!! Day after day of the same old tricks will bore anyone…. and no new tricks will cause the spectators to lose interest as well.

Whether you are a CORE rider, a newbie, or anywhere in between, progression of water sports depends on new life in them. That new life can come in the form of a new trick, a new medium to expose the sports, or a rider strapping in or jumping on a skate for the first time.

I am thankful that I have a group of wakeboarders that constantly push me to try new tricks, and go bigger than before….this keeps me from plateauing (YES YOU HEARD CORRECT, SKATERS AND BOARDERS pushing eachother).

At the end of the day when everyone gets better, and the sports grow, the possibility for more people to make a living in the water sports industry grows as well.

TO ALL: Get out there have fun, become part of the scene, push your friends to get better!!! and together we will get water sports to a scale larger than anyone ever imagined!!!!

Start out by carving out on your heel edge,
Boat: edge out until just before you would get slack in the rope.
Cable: edge out 5-10 feet.
After this point the steps happen pretty much simultaneously (From this step forward the rope will be in your front hand only). You want to begin to flatten out, as you are flattening out you want to use that momentum and pop your ollie. Once you pop, keep your eyes on your back foot and roll your wrist inward and put your knuckles on your spine. This will make the rotation happen, after that you can decide whether or not you want to make the handle pass or not and ride away.
After the trick is learned add your style to it and make it your own!!

Today I learned a switch front-side 360 (switch front 3) on my wakeskate. This trick has given me a lot of grief in the past, so I figured I would share how I stuck it. First off I did the trick off a cheese wedge kicker on a cable. Every cable pulls a little different, so on this trick just have moderate line tension when approaching the kicker. As you reach the top of the kicker pull the rope to your hip pretty hard as you begin the rotation. Here is where the tricky part starts. As you begin the rotation pass the handle below your ass, this will cause your toes to point down at the water, allowing for the clean rotation with the board stuck to your feet. After that all that’s left is sighting your landing. You should start sighting your landing as you make the handle pass (keeping the rope in close to your body makes the pass much easier). All that you have to do now is go out and stick this thing.
